Participates in joint declaration at Summit of the Americas.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) outlined how they will be participating in the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection that was made at the Summit of the Americas. The declaration is intended to develop and stabilize humane legal migration protection and management. Many legal migrants are employed for seasonal farm labor through the H-2A visa program, and the USDA has committed to expanding the program and improving migrant working conditions.
“The COVID-19 pandemic put a spotlight on the importance of these workers and their contributions to our nation’s food security, and simultaneously highlighted challenges of labor instability, irregular migration, and the need for increased labor protections in order to increase the resiliency of our food system and supply chain,” the USDA stated.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For USDA officials as they seek to ensure supply chain resilience and food supply.
- For wisdom for the president and his administration as they fulfill commitments to Central and South American nations.
- For Secretary Vilsack to seek God’s direction as he heads the USDA.
